favorite and famous
There is always a year to be discovered and another one to be confirmed as one
of the best riders of the moment. That is why the rider from Bejar, Roberto
Heras, started out and became the best Spanish rider in 1999 but it was the
following year when he showed us the best of himself and achieved the victory
in Vuelta a Espaņa 2000. It was in 1999 when he obtained his first awards and
ended up being the first Spanish rider in the UCI ranking. That very same year
he commented, and it has been written down, that he he liked "the big races".
The year 1999 had taught him that he could cope with the great races and the
great riders, that is why he was fifth in Il Giro - being the first week full
of bad luck for him - but confirming his condition of great climber when he
